Hello Everyone!
Are we surviving or thriving this summer? What whisperings have you heard from your body as you enjoy summer activities? How has your mood been? What songs has your heart been singing? We are typically more physically active in summer, but what about our minds? What are you spending time thinking about? We know that where our thoughts go, energy will flow, so where are you sending your energy?
Yoga is not just for the perfect injury free people. It truly is for any and every body.
Have you endured an injury recently, or has an old injury and chronic pain been sabotaging your mind? I fully understand this. I have pretty severe arthritis in my knees. Since November of 2019 when I blew out one of my knees, my life and how I live it has changed. For instance, I can’t walk down stairs. Pain and inflammation are a part of my daily life. I am so grateful that I have a team of healers around me that I see regularly (some weekly) to help me manage chronic pain and strengthen what is weak. I see two chiropractors, a massage therapist, a physical therapist, a myofascial release therapist, an acupuncturist and an ayurvedic wellness coach. My story is long regarding the bumps in the path I have had to hurdle over, and I will continue to hurdle over, but I am still standing. Through all of this, yoga has been the one life line I lean into daily for my physical, spiritual and mental needs. It is my pleasure to share yoga with you and help you empower yourself.
I share my struggle with you because living with a significant injury that limits you physically and challenges you mentally and spiritually can be crushing at times, but it doesn’t have to define you. Learning to live with arthritis pain and inflammation has made me an even better yoga instructor. I haven’t just studied the strategies, I live and practice them. I understand limitations and how to work with or through them. Don’t let your personal struggles and problems keep you from coming to yoga. Yoga is so vast and all encompassing and adaptable. I was even able to practice chair yoga two weeks after my stem cell surgery. Please email me or talk to me before or after class about what is going on within you, so we can work together to help you not just survive, but to thrive.

A new class is being added to our weekly schedule of classes beginning on Wednesday, August 10 at 9 am.
This class will begin like all classes do, with a cup of hot tea if you wish, a mindful meditation followed by gentle yoga stretches,(props and chairs available), some strengthening exercises and developing our breathwork. Our practice will always have a heart and soul component. While living in a strong balanced body is essential, we know we must also practice and build habits that sustain a strong, open and balanced mind and spirit. Don’t hesitate to spend an hour with yourself on your mat. You never know what you might find and learn about yourself.
Any expecting Mommas out there? There is some interest in a prenatal yoga class and I would love to hold space for it, but I need at least 4 students to do so. Let me know!
